We have a small wooded around in one corner of
our land which extends to mature oak standards along the boundary. We intend to
re-work the very old, derelict coppice and bring it back into rotation in
addition to extending the wooded area initially through layering but also
through planting of gathered seed from fine, local, mature standards. Will be
producing ash, oak, lime, chestnut and hazel coppice products together with
additional holly, apple and field maple products.
Initially, product will be for the farm itself for
fencing, firewood and such but we will be offering products for sale
locally later.
We are just beginning our journey and would love to
hear from seasoned workers. We are not planning this as a commercial
venture due to the small size of the wooded area but hope to gather useful
material and enhance the surroundings.
