Thomas Smith (Herstmonceux) are the original makers of the famous Royal
Sussex Trug Basket and Trug Men of Herstmonceux made the original South Down
Modern Trug back in 1983 and started a new way of making Trugs. The companies
combined in the late 1980

Please note that we can offer a full or partial demonstration of Trug Making
depending on length of show, etc. The company looks for its travel, subsistence
and accomodation costs to be covered by the show organisers. Details and booking
form upon request.
Training
As it takes a minimum of 1 year to learn how to make a Traditional Trug
properly we do not offer training.
